I am often asked by Home Sellers "What can I do before I put my home on the market to get the most money from the sale?"
You will probably never hear this from another real estate agent but the one thing I highly recommend that every Home Seller do before listing their home for sale is. . . INTERVIEW AT LEAST TWO AGENTS BEFORE YOU HIRE ONE!
Selling your home is one of the largest financial decisions of your life;
why wouldn't you want a 2nd Opinion?
Think of it like this . . . If your doctor said you needed surgery, you would want a 2nd Opinion wouldn’t you?
If you hired a plumber to repair a leak at your home and they told you that you needed to replace all the plumbing throughout the house, you would get a 2nd Opinion wouldn’t you?
I know this isn’t exactly the same thing, but in a way it kind of is.
Real estate agents come in all sorts of sizes, shapes and experience levels. And you owe it to yourself, your family and certainly your pocketbook to make sure you are getting every dollar from your investment.
And yet . . . Each year the National Association of Realtors does a survey, it’s called the Profile of Homebuyers’ and Home Sellers. In the 2015 survey – 72% of all home sellers only spoke to ONE AGENT! This is not about being nice! This is about maximizing your investment. Each agent you speak to will give you a better understanding of the process. You will walk away with better questions and better expectations. Remember you are hiring someone to do a very expensive job! The only way you will know you are hiring the right person for that job is if you interview more than one!
