Father's Day Fun This Weekend In San Diego - June 16th - 19th

Escape the upcoming heat wave, while celebrating DAD, and enjoy one of the many waterfront events happening this weekend all up and down our beautiful coast line!

Thursday, June 16 - Sunday, June 19th

San Diego International Boat Show

Yearning for a yacht? Us too. Check out boats and the newest nautical gear, gadgets and accessories at the four-day San Diego International Boat Show on Harbor Island. More than 80 luxury yachts will be on display throughout the weekend, plus opportunities to test out watersports like kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, as well as a “Sailing Simulator” that shows how a boat reacts to wind and waves without ever leaving dry land. Boating seminars will be held throughout the weekend, too, in which experts will share tips and tales from the high seas. The event includes a Kids Zone for little skippers, where they can partake in arts and crafts. Tickets are $15 per adult. Kids 12 and under get in free.

Location/Times:  Sheraton Hotel & Marina – Harbor Island | The Boat Show runs from 12 pm to 7 pm Thursday & Friday, 10 am to 7 pm Saturday, & 10 am to 6 pm Sunday.


Thursday, June 16th

Encinitas Classic Car Nights

Join us in Downtown Encinitas to see hundreds of hot rods, Woodies and other classic and vintage vehicles, presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts. You will find a variety of classic cars and trucks between D Street and J Street, along the iconic South Coast Highway 101, in Downtown Encinitas. Enjoy the family friendly atmosphere with live music at several venues and an Awards Ceremony beginning at 7:15pm. (This year's remaining dates are June 16, July 21, August 18 & September 15)

Friday, June 17th - Sunday, June 19th

San Diego International Beer Festival


Sip on sudsy samples from nearly 200 craft breweries at the San Diego International Beer Festival at the San Diego County Fair. The fest also includes vendors selling brew-inspired goodies, plus educational demos, food pairings and other activities. Tickets start at $61 per person, which includes fair admission. There will be five sessions of the beer fest over the course of three days:

Saturday June 18th

Carlsbad Music Festival's Village Walk

Fun for the whole family! More than 50 musicians will perform throughout the Carlsbad Village Saturday night at this fun community festival. Take in the tunes while strolling the charming seaside village. The event is free, but organizers suggest each attendee leave a $5 donation.

Summer Twilight Walk @ Mission Trails Regional Park

Take a summer twilight stroll at Mission Trails Regional Park this season accompanied by guides who will teach you all about the region, wildlife and changes that occur at dusk as the sun goes down. These free interpretive walks meet at the parking lot at the corner of Bushy Hill Drive and Father Junipero Serra Trail, across from Kumeyaay Lake Campground. Sunday, June 19th  * HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! *

Brats and Beer on the Bay


It’s basically everything Dad loves, all in one place: brats, boats and beer. Step aboard the 145’ schooner Californian for a four-hour Father’s Day cruise. Enjoy a bratwurst sandwich, chips and a cold beer as you set sail along the San Diego bay. Some guests may even get to work the lines and handle the sails. Before the ship docks at 4 p.m., snap a photo with Dad as part of the on-board activities – a keepsake of your truly memorable day at sea.

Belmont Park 3rd Annual Father’s Day Car Show


Is your Pops a gearhead? This classic car show at Belmont Park in Mission Beach may be your best bet for Father’s Day as more than 75 vintage and restored rides are displayed at the site of the beachfront amusement park. This event is free and gives you a chance to stroll with Dad and talk cars. There are plenty of eateries near Belmont Park where you can grab a bite, too.
